| Long description | Prinect/FOGRA Dipco 2.0 colour measurement strip Offset printing process standard compliant press control is now possible with Prinect/ FOGRA Dipco 2.0 colour measurement strips. In order to govern and control the print production process, it is essential to monitor the results of the individual stages of the process, but with current digital workflows the use of film based control strips no longer makes sense and digital print control strips are required. Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG and FOGRA have come together to develop the “Prinect/FOGRA 4/5/6 Dipco 2.0 Format 52/74/102 © 2003 FOGRA/Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG“ (from now on simply referred to as Prinect/ FOGRA Dipco 2.0) digital colour measurement strip. The digital strip is based on the “FOGRA CPC System“ analogue print control strips supplied on film and it includes the 40 % and 80 % tonal value control patches that are important for image composition. The Prinect/FOGRA Dipco 2.0 strip allows press proofs to be checked and the print run to be controlled in accordance with DIN ISO 12467 2 or the offset printing process standard (bvdm). The digital colour measurement strips are available for different plate formats (52, 74 and 102 format) and in each case as 4C, 5C and 6C versions. The sequence of patches is designed to allow automatic measurement by the Heidelberg AxisControl Colour Measurement System and Heidelberg ImageControl. As a result of the digitization of prepress and printing, digital platesetters now dominate. Such systems can output the Prinect/FOGRADipco 2.0 without any problem for control of the subsequent printing process. For this it is necessary to position the Prinect/FOGRA Dipco 2.0 either by means of a page layout program or an imposition program at right angles to the direction of printing and across the width of the format. The plates should firstly be checked for the correct exposure of the control patches. If there are problems digital control aids such as the Ugra/FOGRA Digital Plate Control Wedge [3] may be used. All the files of the Prinect/FOGRA Dipco 2.0 colour measurement strips are placed on a single data carrier (CD ROM) with appropriate references for the number of colours and the width of the format. For example, FOGRA_4_F102_1040x10.eps is the file for 4 colours and a width of 104 cm. The colour measurement strips are suitable for Post Script based and PDF based workflows.
